LaMichael James had reason to be all fired up.

What a weekend in college football. The game up in Eugene was outstanding. Stanford got out early, and Oregon showed the championship mettle that we all knew they had. After being down 21-3, they outscored the Cardinal 49-10 the rest of the way. They are soooo explosive. Alabama did what was expected of them, and rolled through the Gators. Boise State blew out New Mexico State and TCU got the first road shutout of Gary Patterson’s tenure. Oklahoma survived Texas at the Cotton Bowl, and my Bruins ran for almost 500 yards against Washington State. Things are getting very interesting as we head towards the midpoint of the season.

Sickness Approved!

Denard Robinson. Duh. I’m out of words for him. The Heisman is his to lose right now.

Jake Locker. He has endured a lot of criticism this year, especially after going 4-20 against Nebraska. We saw the old Locker last night in the Coliseum against USC. He drove the Huskies down the field with a surgical 2 minute drive to upset the previously unbeaten Trojans. He showed both toughness and composure and looked like the top draft pick that we all expected heading into this season. How does Sarkisian feel this morning? 2 seasons, 2 wins against his former employer.

Michigan State. The Spartans have to be the most mentally tough team in college football. They have had to deal with the ongoing health problems for head coach Mark Dantoino. He missed his 2nd straight game, this time with a blood clot in his leg, and Michigan State went out and gave him the best get well card there is. They controlled Wisconsin from the get-go and converted a 4th and goal for the clinching score. Sparty is rolling and next up is a matchup with the Wolverines.

Greg McElroy. He is the consummate college football quarterback. It’s even better that he hasn’t lost a game since he was in grade school. Put him at the helm of the best team in the game, and you have a juggernaut. He makes all the right decisions, and can win a game if asked to. Right now, his steady play has made it easy for the Crimson Tide to win games in any fashion.

Made Me Sick

Derek Dooley. Come on coach, there is no excuse. The Tennessee Volunteers had just stopped the LSU Tigers on the final play of the game for a huge upset. Problem is, they needed 13 defenders to do it. That’s cheating. LSU got one more shot at it, and punched in the winning touchdown. To have this happen at home against a top 10 team is the type of gaffe that gets coaches fired. Luckily for Dooley, this is only his first season in Knoxville.

Florida. Another SEC team with a disappointing performance. How can you not show up against the #1 team in the country? Four turnovers and multiple empty trips to the red zone spelled their doom. I knew they were overmatched going into the game, but their play made it all that worse. They need to regroup quickly, as next week, the LSU Tigers come calling.
